2021 GS1 Barcode Upgrade

Dear Valued Partners and Clients,

Reforestation Technologies International (RTI) is always striving to improve operations while adhering to the highest business communications standards. As a result, on January 1, 2021, RTI will upgrade all Xtreme Gardening case and product barcodes to globally accepted GS1 Barcodes (please see PDF file attached for specific information detailing these barcode changes).

About GS1: Since 1973, GS1 has been operating as a non-profit organization that develops and maintains global standards for business communication. GS1's most well-known developed standard is the GS1 barcode, which are used around the world by companies such as Procter & Gamble and Nike. In fact, GS1 barcodes are used on over  100 million products that are scanned more than 6 million times per day.

RTI still has some product labels with 2020 barcodes; therefore, we will begin sending out products with the upgraded 2021 GS1 barcodes as soon as inventory is depleted. This means that  Xtreme Gardening product's new GS1's barcodes ship-out date will vary as respective inventory levels are depleted. In an effort to make this transition as easy as possible for our valued partners and clients, we will be marking all cases that contain product which have been upgraded to the new, 2021 GS1 Barcodes. Additionally, please see the updated 2021 GS1 Barcode information in the attached PDF file for those that wish to implement the barcode changes into their system ahead of time. If it is possible to temporarily keep both barcodes on files (2020 and 2021 GS1) that would be most effective while we exhaust all 2020 labels and make a full, GS1-only rollout.

Please rest assure that will do our best to make this transition as seamless as possible and feel free to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns via email:, or dial 800-784-4769. We thank you for your patience and loof forward to a prosperous new year together.
